CHANGING THE LIVES OF AFGHAN GIRLS THROUGH EDUCATION
Brightening futures through education!
Brightening futures through education!
Welcome to our website, where I share my incredible journey of determination, resilience, and empowerment.
Originally from Afghanistan, I pursued my high school education with determination, earning a place in medical school. However, life had more surprises in store for me. Finding love and getting engaged led me to the United States—a land of opportunities and diversity, where I embraced new challenges and aspirations.
Balancing my roles as a student, wife, and mother to three wonderful children, I developed a deep passion in advocating for women’s and girls’ rights. Through my experiences, I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of education and became committed to driving meaningful change.
For the past two years, I have served as a Neighbor Advocate and Cultural Liaison with The Spero Project, an organization dedicated to supporting resettled refugees in Oklahoma City. In this role, I have worked closely with refugee families, helping them navigate social services, medical systems, and legal processes while fostering cross-cultural understanding. My work also includes bridging connections between schools and refugee parents, ensuring they have the resources and support to actively participate in their children’s education.
This website serves as a platform to share my insights, advocacy work, and experiences as I pursue this mission. By empowering women and girls through education, I believe we can break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create a more inclusive society.
As a teacher, I am dedicated to nurturing the minds and spirits of young women and girls, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to pursue their dreams fearlessly. Together, we will build a supportive and empowering community where each individual can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
Thank you for being a part of this journey. Let us stand united, shoulder to shoulder, and pave the way for a brighter and more equitable future for all Afghan girls.
Hello, my name is Hadia Yaqoubi. My passion for education and leadership began at Zarghona High School in Kabul, where I was recognized as the top student in my class.
After graduating, I pursued a bachelor's degree in education while simultaneously enrolling in English courses to enhance my communication skills. Alongside my studies, I took on the challenge of teaching at a private school, balancing my responsibilities as both a university student and an educator. Through determination and time management, I successfully navigated both roles.
My dedication and commitment led to a promotion as the Financial Manager, where I took on financial oversight while continuing to teach. Managing lesson planning, financial operations, and academic responsibilities at the same time helped me develop strong leadership and organizational skills.
With a continued passion for education, I later joined Rah-e-Elm Educational Institute as an instructor, further refining my teaching and mentorship skills.
Today, as Principal of the Girls’ School at Afghan Girls Educational Academy, my mission is to empower Afghan girls through education, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to shape their own futures with confidence and independence.
